Where would I get voting and election information online for my state? I was also interested in looking into applying to vote by mail.

Elections
The secretary of state in California for example is in charge of the voting and elections. As each election passes, the state S.O.S. offers more and more online resources to voters. The department not only possesses election results but also tools for voting. The secretary of state also oversees elections and voting systems. So they will be the ones that will be able to provide all the forms that pertain to voting. This would include the form that you are looking for to vote by mail. On the same site you can see the deadline to apply for mail delivered ballots. It’s a popular choice for many voters that do not wish or cannot go the polls physically. There are links to find the closest polling place in your city and state. You can download the form online or go to a nearby post office, elections office or library. You have to be a registered voter prior to applying for mail in voting. You can also file for a permanent vote by mail so you won’t have to do this every year. According to California law, any eligible voter can vote by mail.

I wanted to get information about redistricting. Where can I get help to see all the mapping and district boundaries?

Elections
Once every ten years the U.S. census collects its data and thereafter, redistricting can start drawing its lines and boundaries. This happens every ten years where the political boundaries are redrawn. In California, board of equalization, state senate, state assembly and congressional districts were done by approved redistricting commission. By mid August of last year, the commission approved and certified the redistricted maps. The commission provides these maps to the public through its website. Look up California redistricting on the secretary of state's website, then you will see the commission's site listed. It's better to look up more information about districting from the secretary of state's website that way you can see every issue dealing with it. The latest districting is for the election of June 2012 primary elections.
