The Bureau of Labor Statistics http://www.bls.gov/ro3/data.htm has recorded data available for download. You can see information regarding Retail Inflation CPI-U (Consumer Price Index-Urban), Wholesale Inflation by industry or commodity PPI (Producer Price Index), unemployment statistics in local and state industries and more.
On the consumer end, you can see inflation and consumer spending, pay and benefit data, workplace injuries and more.

How about employment costs? Not the employment rates?

Here is where a bit of research for the employment cost index can be conducted http://www.bls.gov/xg_shells/ro3xg04.htm

Employment cost trends can be seen here http://www.bls.gov/ect/

These databases not only provide data, statistic and histories, but also contain news in regard to their trends. Here's an employment cost index news release http://www.bls.gov/news.release/eci.nr0.htm
