Berrien County is a county located in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 19,286. The county seat is Nashville. The county was created on December 19, 1856, from portions of Irwin, Lowndes, and Coffee counties. It was named for John Macpherson Berrien, U.S. Senator from Georgia.

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 19,286 people, 7,541 households, and 5,323 families residing in the county. The population density was 39.3 inhabitants per square mile (15.2/km2). There were 8,845 housing units at an average density of 18.0 per square mile (6.9/km2). The racial makeup of the county was 68.2% white, 28.7% black or African American, 0.5% Asian, 0.3% American Indian, 0.9% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 2.2% of the population. In terms of ancestry, 16.2% were American, 8.2% were English, and 6.2% were Irish.

Of the 7,541 households, 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 17.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 28.7% were non-families, and 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.00. The median age was 39.7 years.
