Greenlee County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors. The Board is responsible for setting policy, approving the budget, and providing direction to the County Manager. The County Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the County.

Greenlee County is located in southeastern Arizona and is bordered by Graham County to the north, Cochise County to the east, and the Mexican state of Sonora to the south. The county seat is Clifton.

The county has a total area of 2,945 square miles. The county is home to the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the Coronado National Forest, and the Gila National Forest. The county is also home to the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation.

The economy of the county is largely based on agriculture, mining, and tourism.
