Peach County Historical Facts

1. The Battle of Griswoldville (November 22, 1864): During the Civil War, Confederate forces under the command of General Howell Cobb clashed with Union forces led by General Judson Kilpatrick in the small town of Griswoldville, Georgia. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory, with the Union forces retreating.

2. The Great Locomotive Chase (April 12, 1862): During the Civil War, a group of Union soldiers led by James J. Andrews stole a Confederate locomotive and attempted to destroy the Western and Atlantic Railroad.
