Terrell County is a county located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,315. The county seat is Dawson.

Government

Terrell County is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, which is elected from single-member districts. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for setting the county's tax rate, adopting the annual budget, and approving county ordinances.

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 9,315 people, 3,541 households, and 2,521 families residing in the county. The population density was 24.3 inhabitants per square mile (9.4/km2). There were 4,093 housing units at an average density of 10.7 per square mile (4.1/km2). The racial makeup of the county was 57.2% white, 40.2% black or African American, 0.3% Asian, 0.2% American Indian, 0.9% from other races, and 1.2% from two or more races. Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 1.9% of the population. In terms of ancestry, 11.2% were American, 8.2% were Irish, and 6.2% were English.

The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.06. The median age was 39.2 years.
