Voter registration in Colorado is run by the Colorado Secretary of State, and the county clerk and recorder keeps the roll for Trinidad. You can register online, by mail or in person. Voters may register through Election Day; to get a ballot by mail, register online or by mail through the 8th day before Election Day, then in person at a voter service and polling center.
Certified birth and death certificates for events in Colorado come from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Office of the State Registrar of Vital Statistics. The fee is $25 for the first certified copy of a birth or death certificate; $20 for each additional copy ordered at the same time (fee schedule effective 1/1/2026). Birth and death certificates are also issued at the nearest Local Vital Records office, at the same fees.
Deeds for property in Trinidad are recorded by the county clerk and recorder, the county assessor sets the assessed value, and the county treasurer sends the tax bill. Our Las Animas County page lists those offices.
Businesses that operate in Trinidad register with the Colorado Secretary of State, which runs the state business entity search. Some business licenses come from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies; other licenses are issued through local city or county offices.
