Amelia County is located in central Virginia, about 30 miles south of Richmond. It is bordered by Nottoway, Prince Edward, Cumberland, and Lunenburg counties. The county seat is Amelia Court House. The population as of 2020 was estimated to be 12,572.
The county is home to several historic sites, including the Amelia County Courthouse, the Amelia County Jail, and the Amelia County Museum.
