Bailey County is located in the Texas Panhandle and is part of the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Muleshoe.
The county is governed by a four-member Commissioners Court, with each member representing one of four precincts. The county judge is the presiding officer of the court, and is elected county-wide.
