About Brooks County, Texas
Brooks County is governed by a five-member Commissioners Court. The Commissioners Court is composed of the County Judge, who presides over the court, and four Commissioners, one from each of the four precincts in the county. The Commissioners Court is responsible for setting the county's tax rate, approving the budget, and overseeing county departments.
Brooks County is located in South Texas, along the U.S.-Mexico border. It is bordered by Jim Wells County to the north, Jim Hogg County to the east, Starr County to the south, and Hidalgo County to the west. The county seat is Falfurrias. The county covers an area of 1,180 square miles. The economy of Brooks County is largely based on agriculture, with cotton, sorghum, and corn being the main crops.
