Cedar County, Missouri Public Records

Cedar County is located in the southwestern corner of Missouri and is part of the Ozark Plateau. The county seat is Stockton.

Cedar County was organized in 1845 and is named for the cedar trees that grow in the area. The county is governed by a three-member county commission, elected from three districts. Other elected officials include a sheriff, prosecuting attorney, assessor, collector, and public administrator.

The county is home to several state parks, including Stockton State Park, which offers camping, fishing, and boating. Other attractions include the Cedar County Historical Museum, which features artifacts from the county's history, and the Cedar County Courthouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cedar County Circuit Court is located in Stockton, Missouri. It is a trial court of general jurisdiction that hears civil and criminal cases. The court has jurisdiction over all civil cases involving more than $25,000, all criminal cases, and all family law cases. The court also has jurisdiction over appeals from lower courts.
