About Clallam County, Washington
Clallam County is located in the U.S. state of Washington. The county seat and largest city is Port Angeles. The county was formed on April 26, 1854.
The county government is composed of three commissioners, each elected from a district, a county administrator, and several other elected officials, including a sheriff, prosecutor, auditor, treasurer, assessor, and clerk.
The county is governed by the Clallam County Charter, which was adopted in 1998. The charter provides for a commission-manager form of government. The commission is the governing body of the county, and is responsible for setting policy, adopting ordinances, and approving the budget. The county manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and directives of the commission, as well as overseeing the daily operations of the county.
The county is divided into five commissioner districts, each of which is represented by one commissioner. The county is also divided into seven county council districts, each of which is represented by one council member.
The county is served by the Clallam County Sheriff's Office, which is responsible for law enforcement and public safety. The county is also served by the Clallam County Fire District, which is responsible for fire protection and emergency medical services.
The county is home to Olympic National Park, which is a popular tourist destination. The county is also home to several state parks, including Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, Fort Worden State Park, and Salt Creek Recreation Area.
