About Culpeper County, Virginia
Culpeper County is located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2019 census, the population was 48,233. The county seat is Culpeper. The county was formed in 1749 from Orange County.
Culpeper County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors. The Board is elected for four-year terms. The County Administrator serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the County and is appointed by the Board. The Sheriff is an elected position with the primary responsibility of maintaining public safety.
The County is also served by an elected Clerk of the Circuit Court, Constitution Assembly Representative, Commonwealth Attorney, Sheriff's Office, and Fire & Rescue Department.
Public Schools in Culpeper County include three high schools, six middle schools, fourteen elementary schools, and one alternative school.
Culpeper County offers a wide variety of activities through its Department of Community Services. Facilities include Grigsby Park, Elizabeth Miller Park, Fauquier-Culpeper Amenity Center, and the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises Center. The department also sponsors a variety of recreational, cultural and educational activities. The County has a total of nine parks.
