Delta County is located in the northeastern corner of Texas, with a total area of 870 square miles. The county seat of Delta County is Cooper. As of 2019, Delta County had an estimated population of 5,844 people.

Delta County is governed by a four-member Commissioners' Court. The county judge presides as the chief administrator and is elected every four years.
