Douglas County, Colorado Public Records

Douglas County is located in the South Platte River Basin in the central part of Colorado. It was formed in 1861. The county seat is Castle Rock. The county is home to more than 1,000 miles of trails and open spaces, including two national forests and two national parks, and provides access to over 300 miles of rivers and streams.

The county government is composed of a Board of County Commissioners, other elected officials (including the Sheriff, Clerk and Recorder, Assessor, Treasurer, and Coroner), and numerous departments and entities. The county government is responsible for public health and welfare, public safety, roads, water management, and other services within the county.

The county is served by the Douglas County School District, which is the second largest school district in the state. The district serves more than 83,000 students in grades K-12. The district has more than 150 schools, including elementary, middle, and high schools.

Douglas County Colorado court jurisdiction is the 18th Judicial District of Colorado. The district court is located in Castle Rock, CO. The court has jurisdiction over civil, criminal, family, juvenile, probate, and small claims cases.
