Residents register through the Texas Secretary of State's online system at www.votetexas.gov or by completing a paper application and sending it to the Comanche County Voter Registrar, a function typically performed by the County Tax Assessor-Collector. Applications must be postmarked or submitted at least 30 days before an election. Texas requires registrants to be U.S. Citizens, county residents, and at least 18 years old on election day. During early voting periods - typically starting 17 days before general elections - voters may use any early voting location in Comanche County, usually including sites at the courthouse in Comanche. Under Texas law, voter registration lists are public information available for inspection and purchase by qualified requesters for lawful purposes. Energy voters in State House District 60 and State Senate District 22 - districts subject to redistricting - will choose their state legislators. At the Comanche County level, depending on the cycle, positions such as County Commissioners for specific precincts, and potentially County Sheriff, County Clerk, or County Judge may be on the ballot if terms are expiring. Local measures may include county bond propositions or constitutional amendment referenda if the Texas Legislature places them. Candidate filing for 2026 primaries typically occurs in late 2025, with primary elections in March 2026 and runoffs if needed in May 2026.
