Gadsden County is located in the panhandle of Florida and is bordered by Jefferson, Liberty, Calhoun, Jackson, Leon, and Wakulla Counties. It is the 45th smallest county in the state, covering an area of 542 square miles. The county seat is Quincy.
The county is governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners. The Board is responsible for legislation, policymaking, and the general oversight of county services. It is also responsible for the county budget and making sure all county departments are in compliance with applicable laws.
Gadsden County is home to several educational institutions, including a public school system, two colleges, and a technical center.
The county is also home to several state parks and recreational areas, including the Ochlocknee River State Park and the Apalachicola National Forest.
