About Gray County, Texas
Gray County is located in the Texas Panhandle and is part of the Amarillo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Pampa. The county was organized in 1876.
Gray County is governed by a four-member Commissioners Court, with each member representing one of four precincts. The county judge is the presiding officer of the court, and is elected county-wide. Other members include the county clerk, district clerk, sheriff, and tax assessor-collector, all of whom are elected county-wide.
The major industries in Gray County are agriculture, oil and gas production, and manufacturing. The largest employers are Pampa ISD, City of Pampa, and Pampa Regional Medical Center.
