Hall County is governed by a Commissioners Court. The court consists of a county judge and four commissioners. The county judge is elected county-wide and the commissioners are elected by precinct.
Hall County is located in the northern part of Texas and is part of the Texas Panhandle. It is bordered by Donley, Collingsworth, Childress, and Briscoe Counties. The county seat is Memphis.
The county is home to the historic Fort Elliott, which was established in 1875. The county is also home to the historic Hall County Courthouse, which was built in 1891.
The county is mainly rural, with the majority of its land devoted to agriculture. The county's natural features include the Salt Fork of the Red River, which runs through the county from northwest to southeast, and Caprock Escarpment, a dominant feature of the county's landscape.
