Jim Hogg County is located in the south of Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. It is bordered by Starr County to the west, Brooks County to the north, and Zapata County to the east. The county seat is Hebbronville.

Jim Hogg County is home to several state parks, including Falcon State Park, Lake Corpus Christi State Park, and Choke Canyon State Park. The county is also home to the historic Hebbronville Courthouse, which was built in 1891.
