Kendall County is part of the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the fastest-growing county in the United States. The county seat is Yorkville.
The county government is composed of a Board of County Commissioners, which is the legislative branch, and an executive branch headed by the County Administrator. The County Board is composed of 18 members, each elected from a single-member district. The County Board is responsible for setting policy and enacting ordinances and resolutions.
The County Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the county government. The County Administrator is appointed by the County Board and is responsible for the implementation of the Board's policies and ordinances.
