Leon County is located in the Big Bend region of Florida and is the state's only county to border both the Gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola River. The county seat is Tallahassee, which is also the state capital. The county is governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners, which is elected from single-member districts.
