About Maricopa County, Arizona
Maricopa County is located in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Arizona. It is the most populous county in Arizona and the fourth most populous county in the United States. The county seat is Phoenix, the state capital and fifth most populous city in the United States.
Maricopa County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, who are elected by the citizens of the county. The Board of Supervisors is responsible for setting county policy, approving the county budget, and appointing the county manager. The county manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the county government.
The county is divided into five districts, each of which is represented by one of the five supervisors. The county is also divided into 15 cities and towns, each of which has its own mayor and council.
The county is served by a number of law enforcement agencies, including the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the Phoenix Police Department, and the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
