Maverick County is located in the central part of the state of Texas, in the Edwards Plateau region. The county seat is Eagle Pass. The county was created in 1856 and organized in 1871.
Maverick County is part of the Eagle Pass, TX Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels-Pearsall, TX Combined Statistical Area.
Maverick County is governed by a four-member Commissioners Court. The county judge, and the other members are Commissioner Precinct 1, Commissioner Precinct 2, Commissioner Precinct 3, and Commissioner Precinct 4.
The county is represented in the Texas House of Representatives by District 74. In the Texas Senate, Maverick County is represented by District 19.
In the U.S. House of Representatives, Maverick County is part of Texas's 23rd congressional district.
