Middlesex County is located in the central part of New Jersey and is the second most populous county in the state. The county seat is New Brunswick. The county is governed by a Board of Chosen Freeholders, which consists of seven members elected at-large to serve three-year terms of office on a staggered basis, with either two or three seats up for election each year.
