Okaloosa County is located in the northwest corner of Florida and is part of the Florida Panhandle. It is bordered by Walton County to the east, Santa Rosa County to the west, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. The county seat is Crestview.
Okaloosa County is governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners. The board is responsible for setting policy, approving the budget, and enacting ordinances. The county is also served by a constitutional officer, the Sheriff, who is responsible for law enforcement and the operation of the county jail. Other county offices include the Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections, and Clerk of Courts.
