Sheriff & Law Enforcement. Orange County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement in Orange County's unincorporated areas.
Police Departments. In addition to Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orange County is served by municipal police departments, including the Town of Orange Police Department and the Gordonsville Police Department. They coordinate with the Sheriff's Office on major crimes and regional law enforcement efforts.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Law enforcement in Orange County, Virginia is primarily provided by Orange County Sheriff's Office, led by the elected Sheriff and headquartered at 109 West Main Street, Orange, VA 22960. Inmate information and current custody status can be obtained by calling the jail directly at or by visiting the Sheriff's Office in person during business hours. The Town of Orange area maintains its own Orange area Police Department for municipal law enforcement within town limits, located at 130 East Main Street, Orange County, VA 22960 Arrest records and booking information in Orange County are considered public records under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (Virginia Code § 2.2-3700 et seq.), which guarantees citizens the right to access public records unless specifically exempted by law.

Code 2.2-3706(A)(1) law enforcement agencies must release adult arrestee photographs taken at intake and booking when requested, except when release would jeopardize a felony investigation, and then only until it no longer would.
