Osage County is located in the central part of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The county seat is the city of Linn.
Osage County is governed by a three-member County Commission, which is elected in staggered four-year terms. The other elected officials are the County Clerk, Sheriff, Assessor, Collector, Prosecuting Attorney, and Public Administrator.
The county is part of the Missouri 5th Congressional District and is represented in the Missouri House of Representatives by District 120.
Osage County is home to several state parks, including the Mark Twain National Forest, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and the Finger Lakes State Park. The county is also home to several historic sites, including the Osage County Courthouse, the Osage County Jail, and the Osage County Historical Museum.
