Saint Louis County, Missouri Public Records

St. Louis County is located in the eastern portion of Missouri and is the most populous county in the state. It is bordered by the Mississippi River to the east, the Missouri River to the north, and the Meramec River to the south. The county seat is Clayton.

The county has a total area of 524 square miles, of which 517 square miles is land and 7 square miles is water.

The county is governed by a seven-member County Council, which is elected from seven districts. The county executive is elected in a countywide election. The county also has a number of other elected officials, including a prosecuting attorney, circuit court judges, and a sheriff.

The county is also home to several major universities, including Washington University in St. Louis, Saint Louis University, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

St. Louis County is home to a number of attractions, including the St. Louis Zoo, the Missouri Botanical Garden, and the Gateway Arch.

Certain records need to be requested from county agencies such as the copies from the Saint Louis recorder of deeds office, assessors, boards and various forms of local government administration. The county clerk manages and maintains the records center, notarizes documents and provides for public request policies.
