San Juan County, Washington Public Records

San Juan County is located in the northwest corner of Washington State, and is the second smallest county in the state. It is made up of four main islands: San Juan Island, Orcas Island, Lopez Island, and Shaw Island. The county seat is Friday Harbor, located on San Juan Island. The county has a population of 17,788 as of the 2019 census.

The county government is made up of three elected commissioners, who are responsible for setting the county's budget and policies. The county also has a number of departments, including the Sheriff's Office, Public Works, Planning and Community Development, and the Health and Human Services Department.

The county is served by the San Juan County Public Utility District, which provides electricity, water, and sewer services to the islands. The county is also served by the San Juan County Public Transportation Benefit Area, which provides public transportation services to the islands.

The county is home to several state parks, including Moran State Park, San Juan Island National Historical Park, and Lime Kiln Point State Park. The county is also home to several national wildlife refuges, including the San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge and the San Juan Islands National Monument.

San Juan County Superior Court is amongst 39 Superior Courts with general jurisdiction across the state of Washington. This court handles criminal felony and misdemeanor cases, civil disputes, divorce filings, juvenile, adoption, probate, guardianships and more. The county clerk issues bench warrants, executions on judgments, abstracts, attachments, garnishments and subpoenas.
