About San Juan County, Washington
San Juan County is located in the northwest corner of Washington State, and is the second smallest county in the state. It is made up of four main islands: San Juan Island, Orcas Island, Lopez Island, and Shaw Island. The county seat is Friday Harbor, located on San Juan Island. The county has a population of 17,788 as of the 2019 census.
The county government is made up of three elected commissioners, who are responsible for setting the county's budget and policies. The county also has a number of departments, including the Sheriff's Office, Public Works, Planning and Community Development, and the Health and Human Services Department.
