About Snohomish County, Washington
Snohomish County is located in the U.S. state of Washington. The county seat and largest city is Everett. The county was created out of Island County on January 14, 1861 and is named for the Snohomish tribe.
The county government is composed of a Board of County Commissioners, which is the legislative body, and an executive branch headed by the County Executive. The county is divided into seven council districts, each of which elects one member to the Board of County Commissioners. The county is also served by a Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Auditor, Treasurer, and Assessor.
The county is home to several state parks, including the Pilchuck Tree Farm, the Snohomish River Estuary, and the Centennial Trail. The county also operates several public libraries, including the Everett Public Library, the Snohomish County Library System, and the Sno-Isle Libraries.
