Sterling County, Texas Public Records

Sterling County is located in the western part of Texas, in the Concho Valley region. It is bordered by Coke County to the north, Runnels County to the east, Tom Green County to the south, and Irion County to the west. The county seat is Sterling City.

The county is governed by a four-member Commissioners Court, which is composed of the county judge and four commissioners. The county judge is elected county-wide, while the commissioners are elected by the voters in each of four precincts. The county judge is the presiding officer of the Commissioners Court, and is responsible for approving the county budget and setting the tax rate.

Sterling County is part of the San Angelo, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county is served by the Sterling City Independent School District. The economy of Sterling County is largely based on agriculture, with cotton, sorghum, and hay being the primary crops. Oil and gas production is also an important part of the local economy.
