Sullivan County is located in the northeast corner of Missouri and is part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Milan. The county was organized in 1845.
The government of Sullivan County, Missouri is composed of a three-member County Commission, elected from three districts. The County Commission is also responsible for appointing the County Clerk, Sheriff, and other county officials.
The economy of Sullivan County is largely based on agriculture, with corn, soybeans, and hay being the primary crops. Other industries include manufacturing, retail, and tourism.
The county is served by two school districts, Milan C-2 and Green City R-1. There are also several private schools in the county.
The county is home to several parks and recreational areas, including the Mark Twain National Forest, the Meramec State Park, and the Lake Wappapello State Park.
