Surry County is located in southeastern Virginia, and is part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. The county seat is Surry.
Surry County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors. The Board is elected by the citizens of the county and is responsible for setting policy and enacting laws. The Board meets twice a month, usually on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
The county is served by the Surry County Sheriff's Office, which is responsible for law enforcement and public safety. The Surry County Public Schools system provides public education for the county.
