Suwannee County is located in the north central part of Florida and is part of the Big Bend region. The county seat is Live Oak.

The county is named for the Suwannee River, which forms its western border. Suwannee County is part of the Gainesville, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The county is governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners, which is elected from single-member districts. The county also has a constitutional officer, the Sheriff, who is elected county-wide. Other elected officials include the Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections, and Clerk of the Circuit Court.

The county is served by the Suwannee County School District, which operates 14 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools. The county is also home to North Florida Community College.

The county is home to several state parks, including Suwannee River State Park, O'Leno State Park, and Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. The county is also home to the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, a 180-mile hiking trail that follows the Suwannee River.

Suwannee County Court is located in Live Oak, Florida and is part of the Third Judicial Circuit of Florida.
