Volusia County, Florida Public Records

Volusia County is located in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Florida. Its county seat is DeLand.

The county government of Volusia County is defined and authorized under the Florida Constitution and Florida law. It is composed of the Board of County Commissioners, several other elected officials, and numerous county departments and divisions.

The Board of County Commissioners is the county's governing body. It is composed of seven members, elected from single-member districts. The board sets policy and establishes county ordinances, adopts the annual budget, and sets the county's property tax rate.

The other elected officials are the Sheriff, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections, and State Attorney.

The county is served by a number of departments and divisions, including the Sheriff's Office, Fire Services, Emergency Management, Public Works, Planning and Development, and Parks, Recreation and Culture.

Volusia County Court is located in DeLand, Florida and is part of the Seventh Judicial Circuit. The court has jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases, including felonies, misdemeanors, juvenile delinquency, family law, probate, guardianship, and mental health.
