The registration deadline is 21 days before any election. To register, applicants must be U.S. Citizens, West Virginia residents, at least 17 years old (may vote at 18), and not currently under conviction of a felony or declared mentally incompetent by a court. Acceptable identification for registration includes a West Virginia driver's license or ID number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number. Since the community is unincorporated with no municipal government, there are no city council or mayoral elections. Local residents vote in Jackson County Commission races, county constitutional officer elections, and state and federal contests. To find their assigned polling place, voters can use the polling place lookup tool at GoVoteWV.com/search by entering their residential address; polling locations are assigned by precinct and typically include local schools, community centers, or fire departments in the area. West Virginia public election records include voter registration lists (available with limited information under W.Va. Code §3-2-30), campaign finance reports filed with the West Virginia Secretary of State's office at cfrs.wvsos.gov, candidate filing information, and precinct-level election results published by the Jackson County Clerk after certification. West Virginia allows absentee voting by mail for any registered voter; applications are available at GoVoteWV.com or through the Jackson County Clerk's office and must be received by six days before the election, with completed ballots due by Election Day. Early in-person voting is available at the Jackson County Clerk's office beginning 13 days before Election Day.
