The Municipality of Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska and the largest city in the United States by area. It is located in the south-central part of the state, along the Cook Inlet. The municipality is governed by a mayor-council system, with the mayor being the chief executive and the council being the legislative body. The current mayor is Ethan Berkowitz, who was elected in April 2015.
The Anchorage Borough is the regional government for the Municipality of Anchorage. It is responsible for providing services such as public safety, public works, and planning and zoning. The borough is divided into seven assembly districts, each of which is represented by an assembly member. The borough also has a mayor, who is elected by the assembly. The current mayor is Austin Quinn-Davidson, who was elected in October 2020.
