Registration closes 29 days before any election. Voters must provide their Kentucky driver's license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number along with their date of birth. State law requires voters to be U.S. Citizens, at least 18 years old on or before Election Day, and residents of Kentucky. Those with felony convictions cannot vote unless their civil rights have been restored. As an unincorporated community, Boaz does not hold municipal elections for mayor or city council. State legislative seats include Kentucky House of Representatives and Kentucky State Senate districts covering Graves County. Voters can find their assigned polling location using the lookup tool on the Kentucky State Board of Elections website at https://vrsws.sos.ky.gov/vic/ or by contacting the Graves County Clerk's office. Precinct assignments are based on residential address and may change, so verification before each election is recommended. In the November 2024 presidential election, Graves County recorded approximately 70-75% voter turnout among registered voters, with strong support for Republican candidates consistent with voting patterns in rural Western Kentucky. The county had approximately 23,000-24,000 registered voters for that election. Looking ahead to November 3, 2026, Boaz and Graves County voters will decide several important races. While there is no U.S. Senate seat from Kentucky up for election in 2026 (Senator Rand Paul was re-elected in 2022 and Senator-elect TBD in 2024 serves until 2027), voters will likely see contested races for the U.S. House of Representatives for Kentucky's 1st Congressional District, which includes Graves County. The Kentucky Governor's race will not be on the 2026 ballot (the next gubernatorial election is in 2027), but state legislative seats in the Kentucky General Assembly will be contested, including the Kentucky House and Senate districts representing Graves County. County constitutional offices including Sheriff, County Clerk, Jailer, and others will appear on the ballot as these positions have four-year terms with elections typically held in even-numbered non-presidential years. Local magistrate positions may also be contested. Kentucky election records that are public include voter registration lists (available for purchase for legitimate purposes under KRS 117.175), campaign finance reports filed by candidates and committees (searchable at the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance website https://kref.ky.gov/), candidate filings and declarations, and precinct-level election results. The Graves County Clerk publishes unofficial election results on election night and certifies official results after canvassing. Kentucky offers absentee voting for voters who meet specific criteria: voters who will be absent from the county on Election Day, voters whose employment requires them to be absent from the county all hours polls are open, voters with medical conditions or disabilities, voters who are students residing outside the county, voters who are incarcerated but not yet convicted, and voters whose religious beliefs prevent them from voting on Election Day. Absentee ballot applications must be submitted to the Graves County Clerk's office, with deadlines varying depending on whether the ballot will be mailed or picked up in person.
