Police Departments. In addition to Calvert County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement in Calvert County includes municipal police departments such as the Chesapeake Beach Police Department and the North Beach Police Department. They work collaboratively with the Sheriff's Office on major crimes and regional law enforcement initiatives, making sure of full coverage and response to incidents across Calvert County.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Calvert County Sheriff's Office, headquartered at 30 Duke Street in Prince Frederick, MD 20678, is the primary law enforcement agency for Calvert County. Calvert County Detention Center, located adjacent to the Sheriff's Office at 30 Duke Street, houses inmates and provides an online inmate search tool through the Sheriff's Office website where the public can look up current detainees by name or booking number. Calvert County does not have any incorporated municipalities with independent police departments; all law enforcement functions are consolidated under the Sheriff's Office, which provides patrol, criminal investigation, narcotics enforcement, and correctional services countywide. Arrest records in Calvert County are considered public records under the Maryland Public Information Act (Maryland Code, General Provisions Article § 4-101 et seq.). Maryland State Police also maintains jurisdiction on state highways running through Calvert County, including MD Route 2/4, the primary north-south corridor.
