New Hampshire voters can register online through the New Hampshire Secretary of State's website at sos.nh.gov/elections, or register in person at the town clerk's office or on election day at the polling place. Same-day voter registration is permitted across the state. Pre-registration must be completed by 6-13 days before election day depending on method, though qualified citizens may also register on election day itself at their polling place. On November 3, 2026, voters in the area will participate in elections for U.S. Senate (New Hampshire has one Senate seat up), Governor of New Hampshire, U.S. House of Representatives (District 1), Executive Council, State Senate and State House of Representatives, and Carroll County Attorney and County Treasurer (Carroll County officers are elected in presidential years, so these positions won't be on the 2026 ballot). State legislative districts include Tamworth in Carroll County District 6 for the State Senate and Tamworth is part of a multi-town district for the State House. Absentee voting in New Hampshire requires a reason from the statutory list including absence from town on election day, religious observance, disability, employment commitment, or being an election official in another town. Absentee ballot applications are available from the town clerk beginning 30 days before an election and must be returned by 5:00 PM on election day. Voted absentee ballots must be received by the town clerk by the close of polls on election day. Military and overseas voters may use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB).
