While party affiliation isn't required, voters must register with a party to participate in that party's primary elections. Acceptable identification includes a New Mexico driver's license or ID number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number. Because the community is unincorporated, there are no municipal elections for mayor or city council. Residents vote in Torrance County, state, and federal elections.
