As an unincorporated community with no municipal government, Edmond has no city council or mayoral elections. Residents instead participate in Fayette County, state legislative, and federal elections. Voters can find their assigned polling place by using the polling place lookup tool on the West Virginia Secretary of State's website at https://services.sos.wv.gov/Elections/Voter/FindMyPollingPlace or by contacting the Fayette County Clerk. Polling places are assigned by precinct based on residential address. In the November 2024 presidential election, Fayette County reported approximately 16,000 total votes cast out of roughly 29,000 registered voters, representing about 55% turnout, with strong support for Republican candidates consistent with regional voting patterns. On November 3, 2026, residents will participate in the midterm general election. This election will include West Virginia's U.S. Senate seat (Class II) currently held by Shelley Moore Capito, who is up for reelection in 2026. West Virginia's three U.S. House seats will also be contested; the community is located in West Virginia's 1st Congressional District. All 100 seats in the West Virginia House of Delegates and 17 of the 34 West Virginia Senate seats (even-numbered districts) will be on the ballot, with local voters participating in their respective state legislative districts. County-level offices including Fayette County Commission seats, sheriff, county clerk, assessor, and other constitutional offices may appear on the ballot depending on term expirations. Primary elections will occur in May 2026 to determine party nominees. West Virginia election records that are public include voter registration lists, which can be purchased from county clerks or the Secretary of State for lawful purposes; campaign finance reports filed by candidates and political committees, searchable through the West Virginia Secretary of State's Campaign Finance Reporting System; candidate filings showing who has qualified for the ballot; and election results by precinct after elections are certified. West Virginia permits absentee voting for any voter who prefers not to vote in person. Absentee ballot applications can be submitted online through the Secretary of State's website, by mail, or in person at the Fayette County Clerk's office. Completed applications must be received by Fayette County Clerk by six days before the election. Voted absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls on election day to be counted. Early in-person voting is available at Fayette County Clerk's office and designated satellite locations beginning 13 days before the election and ending three days before election day, providing convenient options for residents who prefer to vote before election day without requesting a traditional absentee ballot.
