Sheriff & Law Enforcement. Franklin County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Franklin County.
Police Departments. In addition to Franklin County Sheriff's Office, several municipal police departments operate within Franklin County. Each department has jurisdiction within its respective city limits and collaborates with the Sheriff's Office on major crimes and regional law enforcement initiatives.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Franklin County Sheriff's Office, located at 12 First Avenue NW in Hampton, Iowa 50441, provides primary law enforcement services throughout unincorporated areas of Franklin County. Inmate lookup and jail roster information is available by contacting the Sheriff's Office directly during business hours, with detention staff providing booking information, visitation schedules, and inmate status. Arrest records in Franklin County are considered public records under Iowa Code Chapter 22, Iowa's Open Records Law, which mandates that government records are open to public inspection unless specifically exempted. Special jurisdiction may apply to state patrol operations along major highways including US Highway 65 and Iowa Highway 3.
