Voters must be U.S. Citizens, Kentucky residents, at least 18 years old by the next general election, and not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction. Photo identification is not required to vote in Kentucky; instead, voters sign the precinct roster and their signature is compared to their registration signature. As a small sixth-class city, Glendale holds municipal elections for mayor and city council. The city has a mayor and typically four to six council members depending on its charter. Municipal elections in Kentucky sixth-class cities are held in even-numbered years on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, coinciding with federal general elections. The next municipal election will occur in November 2026. Local voters can find information about candidates through the Hardin County Clerk's office, which maintains candidate filings and campaign finance reports for city races. Polling place assignments for residents can be looked up through the Kentucky State Board of Elections website at elect.ky.gov/Resources/Pages/Polling-Locations.aspx by entering a street address, or by contacting the Hardin County Clerk's office. The community typically has one or two precincts depending on population. In the November 2024 presidential election, Hardin County reported approximately 65-68% voter turnout with over 50,000 ballots cast out of roughly 78,000 registered voters, reflecting strong engagement in a presidential year. Looking ahead to November 3, 2026, voters in Glendale and Hardin County will decide several important races. At the federal level, Kentucky's U.S. Senate seat currently held by Mitch McConnell will not be on the ballot in 2026 (it was last up in 2020 and will next be contested in 2026 unless circumstances change); however, voters will elect all six of Kentucky's U.S. House Representatives.
