Gormania, West Virginia Public Records

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, state residents, at least 17 years old (turning 18 by the general election), not currently convicted and confined for a felony or treason, and not adjudicated mentally incompetent. Valid West Virginia driver's license or ID card numbers are required for online registration. As an unincorporated community, Gormania doesn't hold municipal elections for mayor or town council. Residents vote only in county, state, and federal elections. County offices appearing on ballots include County Commission (three commissioners with staggered six-year terms), Sheriff (four-year term), County Clerk (four-year term), Assessor (four-year term), Prosecuting Attorney (four-year term), and various other positions. Most voters cast ballots at a precinct location in or near the community on election day. West Virginia makes several categories of election records public: voter registration lists (available for purchase by qualified requesters under W. Va. Code §3-2-30), campaign finance reports filed by candidates and PACs (searchable at https://cfrs.wv.gov), candidate filing information, and official election results by precinct published by the Grant County Clerk and Secretary of State. The county has leaned Republican in recent presidential and statewide races. West Virginia won't have a U.S. Senate race that year, but voters will elect all 100 members of the West Virginia House of Delegates (two-year terms) and half the State Senate (17 of 34 seats, four-year staggered terms). Grant County participates in District 13 for House of Delegates elections. County-level offices will appear on the ballot depending on term expirations, and judicial elections for Supreme Court of Appeals justices and circuit judges occur periodically. Absentee voting is available for those absent from the county on election day, ill or physically disabled, working during polling hours, or caring for a confined person.
