Haines Borough is a borough located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is part of the Alaska Panhandle and is bordered by the Chilkat Inlet and Chilkoot Inlet to the north, the Gulf of Alaska to the east, and the Lynn Canal to the south. The borough seat is Haines, which is also the only incorporated city in the borough.
The borough was established in 1912 and covers an area of 2,711 square miles (7,000 km2). As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,508. The borough is governed by a seven-member assembly, with the mayor serving as the presiding officer. The borough also has a manager-administrator who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the borough.
