Iredell County is located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina and covers an area of 522 square miles. It was established in 1788. As of the 2020 census, the population of Iredell County was 182,019 and the county seat is Statesville.
The county is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners, which is elected at-large to serve four-year terms. The county is also served by a county manager, who is appointed by the Board of Commissioners.
1. The Battle of Ramsour's Mill (1780): This battle was fought during the American Revolution in Iredell County. It was a major victory for the Patriot forces, who were outnumbered by the Loyalists.
2. The Founding of Statesville (1789): Statesville was founded in 1789 and is the county seat of Iredell County. It was named after the state of North Carolina.
3. The First Cotton Mill in Iredell County (1820): The first cotton mill in Iredell County was built in 1820. It was located in the town of Troutman and was the first of many cotton mills that would be built in the area.

5. The Founding of Mooresville (1873): Mooresville was founded in 1873 and is now the largest town in Iredell County. It was named after the Moore family, who were early settlers in the area.
