Davie County is located in northwest North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 41,786. The county seat is Mocksville. The county was formed in 1836 from Rowan County.

The county government is led by a five-member Board of Commissioners, which is elected by the citizens of the county. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for setting policy and budgeting for the county. The county also has a Sheriff's Office, which is responsible for law enforcement, and a Register of Deeds, which is responsible for recording and maintaining public records. The county also has a number of other departments, including Planning and Zoning, Social Services, and Public Works.

The county is home to Davie County Schools and Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy. It also includes Davie County Public Library, Davie County Transportation Authority, and the Davie County Emergency Medical Services.
