Polling locations are typically at Torch Lake Township Hall or other community facilities designated by the township. Michigan law requires polling places to be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Election Day. In the November 2024 presidential election, Antrim County reported voter turnout of approximately 75-78%, reflecting strong civic engagement typical of northern Michigan counties. Total registered voters in Antrim County numbered approximately 18,500-19,000 in 2024. For the November 3, 2026 general election, voters in the area will decide several significant races. Michigan's gubernatorial election will be held in 2026, with the governor's seat and other statewide executive offices (Secretary of State, Attorney General) on the ballot. All 110 Michigan House of Representatives seats will be contested, including the district representing the community. County voters will also elect officials including prosecuting attorney, sheriff, clerk, treasurer, and county commissioners. One of Michigan's U.S. Senate seats will be on the ballot in 2026, currently held by Gary Peters, who will either seek re-election or be succeeded by other candidates in what is expected to be a competitive race. State legislative district boundaries were redrawn following the 2020 census, so local voters should verify their current districts through the Antrim County Clerk. Michigan offers no-reason absentee voting, allowing any registered voter to request an absentee ballot without providing justification. Voters can request absentee ballots through michigan.gov/vote, by contacting the Antrim County Clerk, or by submitting a written request. Applications must be received by 5:00 PM the Friday before Election Day, though voters can request and submit absentee ballots in person at the clerk's office up until 8:00 PM on Election Day. Completed absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 PM on Election Day to be counted; postmarks do not extend this deadline. The state also offers permanent absentee voter status for those who wish to automatically receive ballot applications for every election.
